Sam Allen – Sports Biomechanist

Sam is a Sports Biomechanics lecturer at Loughborough University. His professional interests lie in the computer simulation modelling of sporting techniques with a view to either improving performance or reducing injury. He obtained his PhD from Loughborough University in 2009, having previously also completed an MSc in Loughborough in 2004. He has had a lifelong interest in athletics: he was a keen schoolboy multi eventer, attending a number of English Schools championships with both Humberside and North Yorkshire; and was a member of Rowntrees AC (now City of York AC) for many years until injuries started to take their toll! Whilst he threw javelins in multi event competitions as a youngster he has taken a keener interest in the discipline since living with David Parker and a number of other spear chuckers in Loughborough and is keen to bring his biomechanical knowledge to bear on the event via this forum.
